The family of Richard Locker is facing a heartbreaking moment of both grief and relief after human remains discovered at a property in Devon are believed to be those of the man who disappeared more than two years ago. Richard was reported missing in January 2024 after he was last seen in Torquay. He had left his home in Paignton in his vehicle on January 4, 2024. The following day, his vehicle was discovered on Mill Lane in Torquay during police searches, but there was no immediate trace of Richard.
For more than two years, his family continued searching for answers while living with the uncertainty surrounding his disappearance. On Tuesday, September 1, Richard’s stepdaughter, Nicola, shared an emotional message in the Finding Richard Locker Facebook group, saying the family could finally begin to understand what had happened. “After two years, seven months and 27 days of wondering where you were… we finally know,” she wrote.
Nicola said the family had never stopped looking for Richard and described the past years as being filled with the pain of not knowing whether he was safe. She also expressed how deeply they wished they could have brought him home, heard his voice, and told him how much he was loved. Although the discovery brings profound sadness, Nicola said there was also “a tiny piece of peace” in finally knowing where Richard was.
