At least 21 people have died after a bus accident on the Dahab–Nuweiba road in Egypt’s South Sinai region on Wednesday, in a tragic crash that has left multiple others injured.
The bus was travelling along a coastal route near the Red Sea when it crashed, prompting a rapid emergency response from health and rescue teams. Ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.
Authorities confirmed that several foreign nationals were among the passengers, including Jordanians, with early reports indicating that some of the dead and injured were from Jordan. However, officials have not yet released a full identification of victims as investigations continue.
The Egyptian Health Ministry confirmed the fatalities and said medical teams are working to support survivors while monitoring the condition of those hospitalized. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
The Dahab–Nuweiba route is a well-traveled corridor in South Sinai, popular with tourists visiting the Red Sea coast. However, it has also been the site of multiple serious road accidents in recent years, raising ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into what led to the crash, while families await further updates on victims and survivors.
