A man in his sixties has died following a serious collision between a car and a truck near Lagnieu in eastern France.
The crash occurred around 4 p.m. on Wednesday on the RD 1075 road. Emergency services found the driver trapped inside the wreckage of his vehicle. Firefighters managed to free him, but he was already in cardiorespiratory arrest and could not be revived.
Preliminary reports suggest the car drifted into the opposite lane for reasons that are still unclear. The truck was unable to avoid the impact due to the guardrail on its side, leading to the fatal crash.
Traffic on the RD 1075 was temporarily halted while rescue operations were carried out, and authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
